Content type for attachments?
How-To Posted by on Thursday May 10, 07:07AM, 2001
from the click-and-play-dept dept.
Does anyone know how I can set the content type of an attachment to, say, mp3, so that when the link is clicked, the correct app is called, or the quicktime plugin kicks in, rather than stupidly downloading the attachment?

Thanks for the reply, but how should this happen? How is Squishdot supposed to know that the file is an mp3? just by the name?

Otherwise, would it be possible to pop up a window with a quicktime plugin to play it when the link is clicked or something?

    Thanks,

    Slef.

Well *theoretically* when you upload a file the MIME type gets sent along with the post, so Squishdot could just store that. Otherwise somebody goes and writes an interface to MIME type database?

      Darrick was spot on :-)

Squishdot should be able to pick up the MIME type when the file is uploaded. If it's not, then that's a bug :-S

      cheers,

      Chris
