howto make your site viewable with WAP devices
How-To Posted by mh on Friday October 17, 03:11PM, 2003
from the dept.
A simple set of files to allow users to view any squishdot site with a WAP enabled device.

I've uploaded an export file that has been tested on squishdot 1.5. It shouldn't be that hard to import it into an already running squishdot site.
Files include:

    index_html (wap_index)
    wap_footer (standard footer)
    wap_header (standard header)
    wap_menu (standard menu)
    wap_story (shows the article)
wml_1_1.dtd ( WML document definition file)
Should be able to import the file wap.zexp into the root of your running squishdot site. It'll create a directory called wap with all the files needed to view latest site articles on a WAP devices. The URL for the wap site will be http://your.site/wap
Other wap extentions for squishdot have been posted here before but as far as i know this one is the only one to allow viewing of the summary and full article.

    Shouldn't the attachment be wap.zexp?

Hi mh, sounds very interesting! Thank you. We've definitely had a few requests for WAP support at dot.kde.org but haven't had the time to investigate/implement it.

I would love to be able to look at these files without messing around with our current install though. Is there a non-Zope way to extract the files from wiki.zexp?

Also, do you have a demo site online we could look at?

You could always just import the .zexp on a test zope instance, or somewhere else that's out of the way...

      cheers,

      Chris
