Should I Hire a Marketing Person or Work With an Agency?

Hire internally when the volume is steady and one discipline dominates; use an agency when several specialisms are needed and none of them justifies a full-time role. The comparison is usually made between a salary and a monthly fee, which is the wrong arithmetic. One specialist covers one or two disciplines well; a digital programme typically requires four or five.

Web to Spec works in both arrangements — as the external team, and alongside an in-house department where the agency covers development and paid channels.

Where each model works

  • In-house works when volume is steady and one discipline dominates.
  • An agency works when several specialisms are needed, none full-time.
  • One internal person cannot cover continuity through leave, illness or resignation.
  • In the hybrid model Web to Spec operates against an explicit boundary on what proceeds without approval.

How Web to Spec fits the hybrid

The most expensive arrangement is hiring one person and expecting everything from them. It generally produces mediocre execution across the board and a resignation within a year, taking the accumulated knowledge with it.

Where Web to Spec works alongside an internal team, the internal side holds positioning, priorities and product knowledge while the agency holds execution capacity. At Web to Spec in Plovdiv the disciplines are held by named people rather than coordinated across firms: Kristina Doynova leads marketing, Alexander Netsov leads development. The G Auto-95 engagement shows one workable division: the client supplied footage and topic ideas from the workshop, while Web to Spec handled editing, adaptation, copy and scheduling. The result was 1,905,275 Facebook views in three months.
