Replicating Squishdot site over two Zope servers
Websites Posted by on Sunday February 18, 08:07AM, 2001
from the Department of Squish dept.
I haven't been able to find documentation or how-to's dealing with replication or mirroring of Squishdot sites

There are situations when one would like to be able to copy or replicate/mirror a Squishdot site to another Zope/Squishdot-enabled server.
For example:

  • moving content from a design to production server
  • load-balancing a Squishdot site
  • moving Squishdot site content between two computers
  • having a copy of public Squishdot postings mirrored on an Intranet server

I saw there's a replication/mirroring feature in Zope but I'm not very familiar with Zope/Sqiushdot and before I try it I'd like to know if anyone has had any experience with these things...
Thanks!

Just "Export" it to a file from the Zope "manage" screen. Check the box next to the top folder for your Squishdot site, and then press the button at the bottom of the screen labeled "Import/Export". That should do it.

I wouldn't recommend this as a way of acheiving replication...

The previous post is correct regarding manual mirroring.

I believe ZOE (Zope Enterprise Objects) would allow you to load balance all Zope traffic on a site across multiple Zope servers.

See the www.zope.org site for information on how they use 3 servers and a ZOE server to do just that.

ZEO, however, is the correct way to go :-)

    cheers,
