Problems with 1.1.0
Squishdot Posted by Craig Ozancin on Thursday May 10, 06:15PM, 2001
from the dept.

I have been using Squishdot 1.0.0 for about a month.

I just installed squishdot 1.1.0. into a test environment. I am using the default demo install.

I have found the following problems:

1)      I made a posting. Every thing went fine. I was not using moderation so the posting appeared as expected. I decided to edit the posting and when to the manage/postings tab and selected the posting. I made my edits and clicked change and received the following error.

Error Type: NameError
Error Value: html2safehtml

2)      From the above problem I then chose preview instead. Everything looked good. I then clicked Add and everything seemed to be OK. When I returned to the main screen I now had two entries for two postings now. The top one had my edits and the bottom was unedited.

3)      I selected the “Posting both articles and comments are moderated” option from the options tab. I then created a posting. I went to the Moderation tab and selected the posting. I then selected the Accept check box and clicked process. I received this error message:

Error Type: AttributeError
Error Value: Catalog_object

    Waaaagh!

    Muchos apologies.

I've fubarred the tarballs on Squishdot.org and Zope.org... they have bugs in them :-(

IIRC, these bugs are all fixed on the download available from SourceForge.net.

In any case, a coupla other bugs have cropped up so I'm gonna see if I can get a 1.1.1 release bundled up over the weekend.

    sorry for any inconvenience caused,

    Chris

I'm on the last leg of a Zope evaluation with Squishdot playing a central role. It is great to see such an honest and quick response to bugs and error messages.

PS The other products in the evaluation were Interwoven, Vignette, nCompass and OpenMarket.

    • No 1.1.1, but new tarballs :-)

      Hi,

Turned out to be a packaging problem on my part.

The tarballs on Squishdot.org and Zope.org have been updated so they shouldn't exhibit these problems anymore.

If they still do, please log issues in the Bug Tracker.

      cheers,

      Chris

I installed the old version 1.1.0 with the edit-posting bug in it, as you describe above.

I already adjusted the whole site. What do i have to change exactly to fix this bug. I don't want to start all over again.

        Thanks...

Just install the new version of the code and restart your Zope server :-)

          cheers,

          Chris

I just posted "my way of fixing it" on the distribution list ...

I had just finished installing my squishdot 1.0 when the 1.1 came out :-) I
upgraded following the instructions but I had to install an external method
with the "STRIPOGRAM" add-on from the zope web-site. Then I don't get the
error anymore so I suppose it's correct (I'm far from expert at this stuff
...). The symptom is that you get an error when you try to post an article
in HTML or "formatted text" - works in plain text though.

I put the external method at the top level of the squishdot site with the
    following parameters :
    ID : Html2SafeHtml
    Title : Html2SafeHtml
Module name : stripogram (File name containing the method without the .py)
function name : html2safehtml (function name inside the file)
