The future of Squishdot
Squishdot Posted by Chris Withers on Sunday January 28, 06:45PM, 2001
from the swishdot-is-coming dept.
Just a quick post to keep everyone up to date :-)

I don't intend to add any new features to Squishdot as it's a pain to maintain the code and it's been holding me back from starting on Swishdot.

I will, however, still be doing bugfixes ;-) Top of the list is 2.3 compatibility, along with a few other niggles that have been around for ages.

If you have features you'd like to see in Squishdot, please code them up and post them on this site as How-To's.

That said, the PTK looks to be stabilising now, and I'm lookign forward to Swishdot so keep your eyes peeled.

Thanks,

Chris

Is it really necessary to start writing a whole new Swishdot? Oh the pain of implementing everything that's already been implemented and bugfixing everything that's already been bugfixed! :) Not to mention there are a few ways Squishdot could yet be improved. ;-)

    Ah, Open Source...

Anyway, what will you recommend to Squishdot users when Swishdot (finally) comes out? Will there be an easy upgrade path?

    Thanks!
    Navin.

    What about using ZPatterns ?

ZPatterns looks to be a perfect architecture for SwishDot...

Is that what you mean when you say "using PTK" ?

    Thanx !

To bad, I was just thinking to use Squishdot instead of using PTK. PTK is nice but too heavy to put in production in an Intranet because the code base is changing too much from version to version.

Anyway, I think that PTK and Squishdot are two different business.

You have a plan or a dead line for Swishdot ?

    Swishdot features?

I'm curious to know what your plans are for Swishdot. Is it meant as a
rewrite of Squishdot using the CMF? Or do you have any cooler (if
that's even possible :) features planned?

I was wondering if there will be support for relational databases in Swishdot?
