Squishdot is THE discussion package.
Squishdot Posted by James Skarzinskas on Sunday January 21, 07:32PM, 2001
from the chatting-zen dept.
I have downloaded several diffrent discussion packages, ranging from simple message board CGI scripts to Slashcode, and I must say that Squishdot is my favorite. It has a great user interface, good colour scheme and is easy to configure. Keep up the good work, squishdot.org, I'll be downloading all your new versions!

Squishdot has been a godsend for me -- but not for discussions (we have a long running freethreads database and the multiple boards metaphor works out better for us).

    Here's how we use it.

The boss couldn't get the hang of zope content management, so I hacked up a news folder out of squishdot and let him do his brain dumps there. Now he's happily creating content, and his older less relevant stuff quietly goes away unless he ever really needs it. He's getting the hang of zopish stuff now, but the squishdot folder keeps the web site from running rank and wild. Every so often I have to go back and do some pruning, but its very manageable.

This has saved me humungous quantities of time. I really should go to PTK to do this stuff, but I don't have the time to do it. Maybe this summer. Meanwhile, Zope and squishdot just run and run and get the job done.
