Screen Formatting Problem
Squishdot Posted by Scott Ralph on Thursday October 26, 03:49PM, 2000
from the dept.
I have been testing out Squishdot for the past fee weeks. All has been great. I upgraded my Linux Netscape to version 4.75 and now my Previous Articles box is showing up larger then all the other right hand side boxes. I create a new demo site and all is well. So I'm confused as to what the problem is and were to look. Any help would be great. Scott

If a newly created demo site works fine, then it sounds liek you screwed something up when you were customizing your site :-S

If there aer still problems with a newly created demo, maybe best to drop something in the Bug Tracking system (link on the left ;-)

Actually it seems to be a font size setting under Netscape 4.75 and only 4.75 (linux). I cannot re-create it under any other version or OS. Anyway once I adjusted the font size everything fell back in line. Strange thing is I still can't figure out why just that one side menu gets larger..

If these means, it's not Squishdot's fault then I'm happy :-)

I've also seen this problem - under both NS 4.75 and IE 5.00.

I think it's caused by the display of the date for older articles. The DTML displays the day string, the month and the day number all separated by an unbreakable space (nbsp;). The effect of the unbreakable spaces seems to be to keep the date information on one line. This over-rides the width of the table.

I found replacing the unbreakable space with whitespace fixed the width problem :), but now the dates go over two lines :(

Reducing the font size will probably fix the latter though.
