How would you suggest a way to make one site serve both english and french pages?

The ideas I have persued have led me to navigational roadblocks.

TIA

    Using Localizer
by Gari Araolaza on Friday November 29, 04:35PM, 2002

We have some simple Squishdot settings for multilingual sites.

We are using Localizer inside Squishdot for language negotiation and interface translation. Then, Squishdot's subjects are languages for us, so, when you choose a subject, you are choosing a language.

Looks like an elegant solution, but was hoping for somethign more simple. We do not care what language the post are in, we want everybody to be able to view all posts.

We have a link for french that we would like to have activate a french version of the same page without modifying the actual post. Then of course maintain the french aspect throughout navigation.

So in reality I guess the question is how do I link two sites to one database?

      TIA

      • So... just use Localizer

So, apply the first part in my proposition.

Just install Localizer and modify all your methods so that they look this way:

(Check those URLs! Don't forget the http://!)

        You just have to write:

        <dtml-var "messages('(Check those URLs! Don't forget the http://!)')">

Then, you just have to create a Localizer's MessageCatalog called 'messages' and edit the strings there.

          • Too site centric...

Sorry... my code is too site centric. You would have more work cleaning up my code than writing it again.

            :-(
