Administrative setting of article date (and time)
Squishdot Posted by Winston Lawrence on Thursday December 27, 08:53PM, 2001
from the Its only today now it was the middle of last week two minute ago dept.
Okay, I'm moving over content from a Lotus Notes based discussion forum to Zope.

All of the content is being added with today's date and time - where it was originally created as long as two years ago so how do I change the date and time for the content once its been added? Thanks - Im new to Zope so excuse me if this is a FAQ (I couldnt find one though)
-Winston

    Not a FAQ ;-)

How are you planning to move the stuff across from Notes?

To set the dates you'll need to write an external method that sets the created and modified attributes of the Posting objects you create.

The values of these should be the date and time your posting was created expressed as the number of seconds since the Epoch.

You'll need to be able to program in python. I'd recommend reading about the time module.

    Good luck,

    Chris

I'm using the extremely high tech mechanism of cut and paste to move the content from Notes to Zope :-) Thanks for the pointer to the time module. If there's no utilities already out there to do this then I'll skip it I know I dont have time to learn Python anytime soon.

Chris, it would be nice for squish administrators to be able to change the time stamp of an existing post via the current management screen for editing posts (the Posting tab). Is this possible, maybe in a future release?

      Cheers,
      Ando

BTW, just as a late note on this...

Squishdot now allows you to do this out of the box :-)
